Preliminary study for Klinger’s etching ‘Death’, sheet 10 of the cycle ‘Eine Liebe’, Opus X, produced between 1879 and 1887. The drawing was almost certainly shown in the ‘Schwarz-Weiß-Ausstellung Amelang’ in Berlin in winter 1902-3.
